The eerie light seemed to be more imposing and festering than the shadows, which had, until so recently, encompassed the whole of this subterranean castle.

No, it is no longer a castle; it has been transformed by time into a tomb.

Of course, the small half-man ignores the creep of the light across the soiled floor – he was always so self-assured and, well, insane.  How could he not be completely mad with the inane nonsense that he spouted off about the terrible vengeance of this fictional being, Jorj, God of Death?  There is absolutely no substance to his claims… even when that mad woman slaughtered hundreds back in Flaros… she was held by rage!  Many a man, held in the fit of battle lust, seems unconquerable, slaughtering man, woman, and child without a lessening of resolve for the death of all involved.

Now that makes sense.

This foolish nonsense of a God is nothing but drivel of the most common sort; for if there were any gods, then I would not have been granted the gifts I have received without the divine retribution of many a lightning bolt.  Yes, the nonexistence of this pathetic Jorj is the most probable solution to this problem.

The walls seem slick and appear to be a kind of marble, though the texture is off.  There is a sort of lividness in the stone that screams of life.  However, it seems that this is not of a type of rock that I have encountered before; my fingers trailing over the dampness, tufts of ancient moss falling easily away, exposing no disintegration of the walls, even after these many thousands of years.

It is too well preserved.
