What is this?

Update: Jan 21st, 2010

The bars on the right sidebar there indicate my progress on various books I’m working on. Until I actually publish a book and figure out all of the weirdness involved with doing so (at which point this page will probably change completely), the bars will indicate my word count progress on each novel.

For example, I expect that Immortal will be right about 100,000 words so each percentage point breaks down to 1,000 words. As it progresses forward, the bar will increase. For now, whenever I edit down, I will simply roll-back the progress bar if necessary.

I damn near stole this idea from Brandon Sanderson, but I made my own graphic (which is nowhere near as nice as his).

At the request of a couple readers, I’ve added a daily word tally as well. This little piece uses the following rating system:

Horrible Day: 0 words written that day.
Bad Day: 999 words or less written that day.
Okay Day: 1,000 to 1,999 words written that day.
Good Day: 2,000 to 3,999 words written that day.
Great Day: 3,000 to 6,999 words written that day.
OMGWTFBBQ Day: 7,000 or more words written that day.
Consulting Day: Doing IT Consultation for the day

Hopefully, this will help me maintain a constant green icon (at least).

When I get to the editing process, I may readjust these metrics so they are more meaningful.

That’s it for now.
